Gaston County Athlete of the Week 2009/2010

The Gaston County Varsity Prep Spotlight is an award designed to recognize one high school varsity athlete each week from Gaston County. On Tuesday morning the Gaston Gazette will publish the weekly award winner.

All high school varsity athletes are eligible for this award and all are encouraged to apply for this recognition. To nominate a high school athlete who you feel is worthy of this recognition please contact Gabe Whisnant at the Gaston Gazette (sports@gastongazette.com)

2010/2011 Varsity Prep Spotlight Athlete of the Week

This program started Tuesday Sept 21, 2010 and is now open to any and all high school varsity athletes in Gaston County. Coaches, Athletic Directors and Parents can feel free to submit their athletes names to the sports department at the Gaston Gazette. One athlete will be chosen each week during the school year by the sports staff at the Gazette. At the end of the year one male and one female will be selected as the Male and Female Athlete of the Year. Congratulations to Kelsey Burgess from Gaston Christian and Jacob Banker from Ashbrook High School for winning the 2009/2010 award!
