Physical Therapy \ Benefits
Start off by asking what are my needs?
Do I need someone to show me how to strengthen my muscles and joints?
Do I need someone to assist me in gaining more range of motion in my joints?
How about someone to show me exercises to improve my balance so I am more confident when I walk?
How about someone to help with my pain that does not prescribe medications and or believe that by "adjusting my nervous system" they will make me feel better?
The above are just a few examples of what a physical therapist can help you with. Physical therapy is not just the application of modalities such as hot packs, ultrasound, and the performance of massage as it used to be many years ago. In fact, if a physical therapy session does not have documented support that it was a skilled treatment leading toward an objective outcome then it really wasn't physical therapy that you received. We encourage you to try physical therapy first, before any other treatment, the next time you have a non-illness related muscle or skeletal symptom.
